In Memory of My Third Aunt
小峰
In October 2003, my third aunt was killed in a traffic accident.
On Oct. 20th, she and other relatives had gone to see my mother off on a trip from Gaoyou, Jiangshu to Taizhou, Zhejiang. At first, they were waiting for the coach at a crosswalk on the ramp from a provincial road to the Beijing-Shanghai highway.
Then my third aunt walked to the crosswalk of the provincial road to see if the coach was coming. As she had stayed in the crosswalk of the road, a tractor swerved to avoid a Toyota car on the road, and struck the guardrail on the provincial road. The guardrail broke free and knocked my aunt to the ground. It made a huge crash.
My mother and other relatives, who were not with my aunt at the time, heard the huge crash, and went to see what was the matter. They found my aunt lying on the ground and escorted her to the hospital immediately. Unfortunately, my aunts injuries were too severe and she died the next day.
No one is ever ready for the death of a loved one, but I was especially shocked to learn of my third aunts sudden death. She was a very warm, kind, industrious, social person. Her virtues, both internal and external, will never be extinguished from my mind. She was the core of her family. This loss will be especially hard on her immediate family, as my third uncle was laid off several years ago. My cousin Xiaoqing is still unmarried as well. In her absence, I will try to help them all that I can.
We were very close. It hurts very much to lose my third aunt I cared about so deeply. I am going to miss her a great deal.
